How much debt does each Pakistani citizen have?

 


According to the Ministry of Finance's report, every Pakistani citizen is currently in debt by approximately 295,000 Pakistani Rupees. The country's total debt increased by 8.365 trillion rupees, bringing the total to 71.241 trillion rupees. In the fiscal year 2022-23, the total national debt stood at 62.881 trillion rupees. The overall debt now amounts to 67.2% of the country's GDP

In the recent report from the Ministry of Finance, Pakistan's domestic debt has increased by 8.350 trillion rupees, reaching a total of 47.160 trillion rupees. The external debt now stands at 33.062 trillion rupees, with the net government external debt at 21.754 trillion rupees. Additionally, Pakistan's debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) rose by 292 billion rupees, bringing the total IMF debt to 2.332 trillion rupees.

The largest portion of the domestic debt is attributed to federal government bonds, which now account for 32.793 trillion rupees. Pakistan Investment Bonds (PIBs) alone exceed 28 trillion rupees, while domestic debt through Sukuk bonds is recorded at 4.766 trillion rupees. Prize bonds add up to 345 billion rupees, foreign currency loans within domestic debt total 374 billion rupees, and the debt owed under the Naya Pakistan Certificate stands at 84 billion rupees
