More than 500 Pilgrims Martyred Due to Extreme Heat During Hajj
Islamabad (News Desk) – During this year's Hajj season in Mecca, at least 577 pilgrims were martyred due to extreme heat. According to a foreign news agency, among those who died from the heat, 323 were from Egypt, and 144 were from Indonesia. The news agency reported that 60 pilgrims from Jordan and 35 from Tunisia also succumbed to the heat, while 11 from Iran and 3 from Senegal lost their lives due to the scorching temperatures. On Monday, the temperature in Mecca reached a record high of 51.8 degrees Celsius.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi Meteorological Department had forecasted extreme heat during this year's Hajj season. In response, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah had arranged water fountains and cold water facilities for the pilgrims at various locations. Additionally, the Saudi administration advised pilgrims from different countries to take precautionary measures to avoid heatstroke.
